This month have been hectic as so many things have culminated in ends. I am finally,
finally free of a multitude of responsibilities that have stifled me for months, if not years. Though there are some things that are bittersweet to part with (such as my dance classmates), there are also aspects that are just plain sweet to see come to an end (IBDP, w00t!) I'm eagerly awaiting a relaxing summer in which I try to recover whatever light-heartedness and sense of humour I have lost (really) and prepare myself for the big change that is on the horizon.

I'll be in the UK for a few days (leaving this Sunday, back in 5 days) dropping by at both York and London. Then when I'm back I'm hoping to get my tattoo done, and wait for my friend to arrive so we can go down south for the summer as we always do. I know, I know, I've never been one for routine, but this is the only time me and her get to see eachother, talk of the year, and actually do best-friend-like things that best friends who are lucky enough to live in close proximity do.

My mission for the next two months is do
1) a lot of reading (both as preparation for Sept and for pleasure),
2) a considerable amount of art (the bad thing about summer is I tend to stick to simple mediums and small scale stuff, which I'm hoping to break out of this summer by taking some large canvases there with me),
3) try not to tan my overly-susceptible-to-tanning skin,
4) pour champagne over my head if my IB result (due out mid-July) is 39 points or more.

Oh and a few days ago I finished The Magician's Apprentice by one of my favourite fantasy authors Trudi Canavan, her newly-released prequel to her main trilogy and it got me
so nostalgic about the Black Magician Trilogy. It feels like it's been ages since I've given it a re-read but I just have too many other books in line at the mo. So I made do with making a bit more fan art

And same goes for Anne Bishop, my other fantasy-favourite, whose new book I am on right now and it's like coming back to a good old friend

Gotta love productive, deadline-meeting authors. And since we're talking lit, these past two weeks I also finished
Love in the Time of Cholera, my forth read out of Marquez's works (which was awesome as always) and
Beloved, a dark and moving American classic by Toni Morisson. I'd really recommend both, though be warned, the latter is very demoralizing!

Though my potential client for
Overpowered ran for the hills when I stated my
very reasonable price, negotiations for
Amidst A Chaos are underway and I really think by next week I'll have sold my first painting (and due to the size of it, for no small price either), yay

By the way, I'm
really sick of my DeviantART username. I've always been aware that QueenOfDespair sounded a bit emo, though it is actually a stupid inside joke with my friend, left over from when I was 14. But since no one knows that, it just sounds... well, emo. Yeah. With so many changes on the horizon and with the fact that many whom I'm leaving behind want a link to my online gallery to keep up with my work, I don't want to be defined in relation to my 4-year-old username. I know the solution is just to create a brand new account and transfer my gallery onto that, but I'm worried this'll present trouble to those who watch me. Have any of you done this before, switch to a new account? And if so, in the process did you face a lot of mixups and lose some watchers? Plus, all of my work would disappear from others' "favourites" and I cannot go back 3 years worth of fav-ers and ask them to re-fave at this or that link.

Blah. Why doesn't DA have a purchasable rename token, like Livejournal does?

I was the girl with a silver umbrella, standing in the pouring rain, in gloom & despair, hurt & miserable, giving in & finally turning her back on the world, just as it had to her.
